Our Stories | share your storyThis is for my son who lives in Florida and is one of the unisured and cannot get any type of help for his illness. He is 46 years old and was born with a inherited blood clotting factor causing him to have two blood clots last year. The first Dr. he saw in the ER sent him home on aspirin for the leg pain amd no test was done even though he had all the signs and symptons of a clot to the right leg. Two days later he was trying to work when he experienced severe chest pain and sob. He was able to climb down off the ladder and layed on the floor until he was able to get help to the hospital. He was admitted and put in the unit where he was found to have two clots that had hit his lung and also a brain tumor was found on the MRI. This is when we learned about the clotting disorder. He was treated by two Md's with excellent care regardless of no ins. He is still under their care and also a vascular md. who says he needs vein stripping to help prevent futher clots. With no ins it is impossible for him to have it done. He also has been having an MRI every six months to keep watch on the tumor's growth. Thank God it is decreasing in size and may have possibly been a blood clot so they cont. to watch this to make sure. The hospital has worked with him and gave him discounts but he is still paying on every dr. visit and bloodwork to watch his clotting factor and is on coumadin 15 mg.daily. |
